Solar PV Panels Northumberland

Northumberland school’s solar photovoltaic installation receives ministerial comment

Geowarmth were invited to install a 6kW array on the Victorian slate roof of the school. The panels are in a discreet location not always readily visible from ground level on a southerly roof elevation. The roof is relatively steep at around 45 degrees and the large Westmorland slates were of varying sizes. Slates were removed to secure brackets to the roof rafters. DC cabling runs externally to an electrical plant room where connections were made in to two phases of the school’s 3 phase power supply.

The project received ministerial comment.  The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change said “I wholeheartedly congratulate the school on their achievements on energy efficiency and on reducing their carbon footprint. The pupils at the school should be proud that this project means their classrooms will be powered by hi-tech and green energy.”
