Air source heat pumps Northumberland offices

Rural Northumberland offices chose air source heat pumps to integrate with boiler

A rural office building refurbishment project near Hexham in the Tyne Valley provided the opportunity to save money on energy costs by installing air source heat pumps to meet a large proportion of the heating load formerly met solely by an lpg boiler.  Geowarmth installed two Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pumps and a sequencing controller to link these together with the lpg boiler.  The client was not able to replace existing radiators which were not all suitably sized for a heat pump so on the very coldest days the controller brings on the lpg boiler.  Domestic hot water cylinders for heat pumps need to have an appropriately sized coil.  Existing cylinders are not usually suitable.  At these Northumberland offices the existing cylinder was being retained so the control system ensures that is heated by the lpg boiler rather than the heat pumps.

Geowarmth have a lot of experience of integrating heat pumps with existing systems.  It requires good design and control.  For more information please contact us.
